How DiRootsOne may support IFC+SG data workflows

DiRootsOne is a Revit productivity plugin that allows model data, schedules and parameters to be exported from Revit to Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets for review and editing. Updated information can then be imported back into Revit to update the BIM model.

  • Export Revit model data, annotation data, elements and schedules to spreadsheets.
  • Allow engineers or reviewers to update design values in Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Import updated data back into Revit to update model information.
  • Support IFC+SG workflows where design information must remain consistent between calculations, schedules, BIM parameters and exported IFC data.
  • Supported platform: Autodesk Revit.

Data transfer workflow

The workflow below shows how spreadsheet-based data transfer can support coordination between engineering design inputs and BIM model updates.

01
Export BIM schedules and parameters Modeller exports schedules, parameters and design information from Revit to Excel.
02
Engineering review and design input Engineer updates calculations, specifications and design information directly in Excel.
03

How BIMCollab BCF Manager may support Written Direction workflows

BIMCollab BCF Managers are available as plugins for BIM authoring and coordination tools, including Revit, Navisworks, Archicad and Tekla Structures. They allow project teams to create, review, update and synchronise BIM issues directly within the BIM environment used to address Written Directions.

  • Create, review and synchronise BCF issues within supported BIM tools.
  • Look up affected model elements while preparing responses to Written Directions.
  • Coordinate comments between project team members before formal response submission.
  • Use the standalone desktop application to review and update responses without working directly inside a BIM authoring tool.
Note: BIMCollab BCF Manager does not submit responses to CORENET X. It may support internal coordination, issue tracking and response preparation before Written Direction responses are submitted through the CORENET X platform.

How 1IFC may support IFC workflows

1IFC is a utility that combines multiple IFC models into a single IFC file.

  • Combine multiple IFC files into one IFC file.
  • Use it only when there is a need to merge separate IFC models into a single file.
  • After merging, perform the necessary IFC review and validation checks using appropriate IFC viewing or validation tools.
Good practice: 1IFC only combines IFC files. It does not perform model review, validation or compliance checking. Always pre-check the merged IFC file before submission.

Review exported IFC files before CORENET X submission and perform final quality checks on model information and IFC+SG parameters.

  • Open and review exported IFC files.
  • Check IFC+SG parameters.
  • Review model information before submission.
  • Investigate model elements in context.
  • Carry out final quality checks before CORENET X submission.
Written Direction response

BCF issue review and response workflow

Review BCF files issued as part of the Written Direction process, investigate affected model elements and manage issue responses.

  • Import BCF files from Written Directions.
  • Review comments in model context.
  • Investigate affected model elements.
  • Track issue resolution.
  • Export updated BCF files when required.

Revit Interoperability Tools

Revit Interoperability Tools include Model Checker, which can be used during modelling to validate IFC+SG parameter values within Revit before exporting the IFC file.
